NKWilson original bronzes are enjoyed in homes and private collections across the country.
Ranging from traditional to soft contemporary, each of NKWilson bronzes reflects in its unique way a response to the human need to create. Each piece is a thought and a hope translated into image, captured for remembrance.
A selection of Nancy’s bronzes are presented here. Click thumbnails to enlarge image.

"Storyteller" - "The tradition of the Native American ‘storyteller’ continues to this day, elder to child, lessons taught by way of symbols drawn into the earth. A few years before the death of sculptor and friend Allan Houser, I accompanied my husband to a stone carving workshop in Marble, Colorado. Allan was the featured instructor. From a distance I watched Allan, squatting on a low stool, bent into his carving, his tools chipping and grinding into the stone. It was easy to imagine him as one of the ancients devoted to his teaching.
I began working the clay for this bronze during that time in Marble, first sculpting the head, then roughing out the posture and composition. It later was completed in the studio. Allan did see it before his death."

"Navajo Way" - "Navajo tribe is a matriarchal society. The women own land, livestock, and manage the business of life. Periodic drought in the desert is a harsh reality. Here is a strong Navajo woman studying the effects of a mid-summer water shortage that threatens the success of her wooly goat enterprise."

"Mealtime" - "I found the bridges of Venice populated more with cats than with pedestrians! A rush of cats all sizes and colors pushing through and around my legs provided a glorious Photo Moment. An elderly woman toting a paper sack filled with discarded fish began what must have been a regular feeding event. I quickly captured this on film, here was potential for a delightful rendering, but.... painting or sculpture? Several years passed before I decided this scene would best be depicted in bronze."

"Getting To Know You" - "...is a portrait of a "cowboy doctor" meeting newest ranch arrival, baby goat Sabrina, 2 hours old and on her legs. Yes, Sabrina is already interested in a taste of that hay!"

"... and all the world a stage." - "A borrowing from Shakespeare. Who of us has not, at one time or another, played to this universal truth?"
|
|
"Woman - The Beginning of a Thought" - "...depicts Woman through the span of time, the proud primitive evolving into future, carrying within her, her Self, the beginning of a Thought."
|
|
"Man Is" - "A portrait of a man of talent, dignity and grace. This model posed for my students and after class would sit an extra hour so I might sculpt this piece. A physicist, appreciator of jazz and modern dance, I was honored he allowed me the opportunity to portray a man of unique quality and character."

|
"Ali" - "Commissioned by a sport art collector, sculpting Mohammad Ali provided opportunity to learn more about the man who has transcended the sport of boxing."
